I don't recall the EIS study taking this factor into account for the escort rule making. We have discussed and...↓ analyzed underwater noise from the addition of more traffic, but not the impacts of potential whale strikes. Since the intent of the rulemaking is to improve protection of Southern Resident Killer Whales, it seems we should at least consider the impact that additional escort traffic may have on whale mortality this body of water.
