Proposed Battery Product Stewardship Plan

Figures 8 and 9 are poorly worded.

"The below illustrations show the areas in Washington State where there are populations of disabled residents (Figure 8), residents those whose primary language is one other than English (Figure 9)..."

"Figure 8: ...↓
• Light blue = Areas currently serviced by the Battery Network
• Dark blue = Areas that have residents with disabilities"

"Figure 9:
• Light blue = Areas currently serviced by the Battery Network
• Dark blue= Areas that have residents whose primary language is not English"

The way it's presented, it appears as if they're claiming that there are no people with disabilities outside of the blue areas in figure 8, and no people whose primary language is not English outside of the blue areas in figure 9. I don't think it's intentional but it's disrespectful and it disregards the people who have a disability or whose primary language isn't English who live outside of the blue areas.

I imagine the intended message could be written something like "Dark blue= Areas with high (numbers/proportions/per capita/etc.) of residents with (disabilities/whose primary language isn't English)."


In Appendix A in the document itself, the contact information for the Producers is only highlighted in black and not actually confidential. The text is still there and can be selected, copied, and pasted, and the emails are still hyperlinks. The information has been removed in the Excel sheet version of Appendix A.↓
