Ecology and DES invite the public to review and comment on the Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) for the Deschutes Estuary Restoration Project.
The SEIS is also available at Ecology's Southwest Region Office; Timberland Libraries in Lacey, Olympia, Tumwater, and West Olympia; and the Washington State Library.
This draft SEIS evaluates the potential environmental impact of updated design elements. Updated project design elements since the 2022 Final EIS include:
Replacement of the utility and pedestrian bridge at Marathon Park
A new berm and elevated trail at Heritage Park
A new berm at Tumwater Historic Brewery
Protection of the BNSF railroad bridge
Refined design for river channel dredging and habitat areas, the Fifth Avenue Bridge and roadway, and recreational elements
The SEIS also evaluates the "No Action Alternative," wherein the proposed project would not move forward.
