Smith Creek hydropower decommissioning

Ecology is accepting comments on our initial public comment period for the application for a Clean Water Act Section 401 water quality certification to decommission the Smith Creek hydropower project located in Whatcom County on Smith creek, a tributary to the Nooksack River. Ecology’s role is to ensure that all decommission efforts meet Washington state’s water quality standards.

Ecology is seeking feedback on what we should consider as we develop conditions for the 401 certification to ensure that Washington state’s water quality standards are met.
