EWU presently owns and operates a college campus in Cheney, Washington that treats process wastewater and discharges to the City of Cheney wastewater treatment and reclamation plant (WTRP) with a maximum daily flow limit of <100,000 gallons per day (gpd), which is the total discharge of all buildings. EWU’s main campus has approximately 11,000 students and staff combined. The campus includes approximately 70 buildings that serve different purposes, which include resident halls for students, classrooms, utilities, food service, physical education, etc. All the buildings discharge wastewater to EWU’s sewer collection and transport system which discharges to the sewer system at different points and ultimately discharge to the WTRP.
